Carstens Publications, Inc. was founded in 1933 by Emanuele Stieri, and sold to Charles A. Penn in the same year. Carstens is located in Newton, New Jersey, where it has been the home of such publications as Railroad Model Craftsman, Railfan and Railroad magazines. Carstens has also published an assortment of railroad books including modeling plan books, electrical handbooks and historical coverage of many different lines.
