In Service: 1944 - Early 80s, several preserved examples.
Primary Assignment: Yard switcher.
Unveiled in 1944 the H10-44 marked Fairbanks-Morse's entry into the locomotive market. F-M found many buyers and 197 were built through May of 1950. Some soldiered on into the early 1980s, often working for shortline and industrial users. The first H10-44 was restored by the Illinois Railway Museum and is still in operation.
