WALTHERS TO RELEASE CORNERSTONE SERIES® N SCALE
MOUNTAIN LUMBER COMPANY SAW MILL IN OCTOBER 1998
Milwaukee, WI: Walthers announces it will release an N Scale version of
Mountain Lumber Co., the saw mill kit from its popular Trees & Trains
series, in October, 1998. The saw mill is the definitive structure of
any lumber mill complex. By rail, truck and water, giant logs are
transported here, stripped of their bark, and fed to the mill, whose
blade transforms them into rough cut lumber. They're then sorted, dried,
and prepared for finishing. Sawdust, wood bark, and wood chips generated
during this transformation are destined for the sawdust
(or slash) burner or for wood chip cars and trucks which will
transport them to paper mills. Finished lumber is shipped out on flat
Walthers Cornerstone Series® Mountain Lumber Co. consists of three
structures: the main saw mill, a powerhouse, and a sawdust burner. The
mill, a board and batten building with a corrugated roof, measures 9-3/4
x 5-3/8 x 3-1/2". The canopied sorting table which gives the overall
structure its L-shape measures 4 x 4-5/8 x 3-1/2". The log conveyor,
which extends from the mill is 8-5/8" long. The powerhouse measures
2-5/8 x 2-1/2 x 1-7/8". Its stacks stand 5" tall. The 3-7/8" diameter
conical sawdust burner is 4-1/2" tall. These structures can be arranged
in a variety of ways to represent realistic prototype operation.
Walthers easy-to-build kit is also easy to adapt to any era. Whether you
model the golden age of steam or a contemporary scene with modern
diesels, you’ll be able to produce a
realistic, detailed saw mill scene with this all styrene N Scale kit.
Mountain Lumber Co. will add picturesque detail and exciting operations
to any layout. Combine it with other N Scale Trees & Trains structures,
like Walton & Sons Lumber Co. (933-3235) or Superior Paper paper mill
