Milwaukee, Wis. - A variety of new roadnames will be offered for Walthers Platinum Line HO Scale cabooses. These models come with all details, including factory-installed wire grab irons, making them truly ready to run. The latest Steel Bay Window Cabooses will be available in September 2007.

As railroads began replacing aging cabooses with new cars in the late 40s and 50s, many turned to bay window cars. The side-mounted bays offered a better view of the train ahead, and reduced injuries, as crews no longer had to climb into the cupola. On many roads, these cars remained in use (some are still in service today) until the 1980s.

Walthers Bay Window Cabooses are based on cars built by International Car Company. Buyers could choose from standard designs, then specify optional equipment to meet their needs. While the cars were outwardly similar, these variations gave them unique features. To capture these important details, the models come with one of three different types of roof, ends and bay windows. In addition, each Platinum Line™ car comes from the factory with all grabs and details installed, plus metal wheelsets, knuckle couplers and superb paint and lettering.

The single cars and limited-run two-packs will offer a total of three numbers per roadname.
