Milwaukee, Wis. - Walthers announces the release of C&O Style Express Box Car Troop Sleeper Conversion cars. These ready-to-run HO Scale models are scheduled to arrive in October 2007.

As the war ended many of the Army's troop sleeper cars, although only a few years old, were declared surplus and scraped. Some, however were purchased by various railroads. Affordably priced and equipped for high-speed passenger service, the cars required only minor modifications for civilian use. Windows were plated over and the cars repainted. In service they handled express mail shipments and baggage, many remaining in use until the late 1960s.

These nicely detailed models are dressed in new paint and lettering schemes. Features include knuckle couplers, correct trucks and RP-25 metal wheels. Add-on wire grab irons allow for customizing. The ready-to-run models make an ideal addition to any post-war passenger consist.
