Walthers announces the arrival of the 68-Seat Full-Length Diner #400-03 and Kitchen-Dormitory #474-75 for its New York Central* 1948 20th Century Limited HO Scale passenger train.

Fast Facts: New York Central's 20th Century Limited was the flaghip of its fleet. A favorite of the elite traveling between New York and Chicago, its all-room status and blistering overnight schedule made it the stuff of legends for 65 years. Aside from plush sleeping rooms, its luxurious accommodations included meal service that was second to none on the rails. The heart of the culinary experience offered to Century passengers was the pair of cars on each train used to prepare and serve meals. Kitchen-Dormitory cars contained a full galley and kitchen, plus dormitory space for the crew. A 68-Seat Full-Length Diner filled with tables for mixed parties was coupled to the Kitchen-Dormitory car in each train. The car pairs were highlights of the posh train, offering a dining experience that rivaled the finest restaurants in New York and Chicago.

Features: The decorated cars are handsomely painted in NYC's distinctive two-tone gray colors matched to actual paint samples. These superbly detailed cars are equipped with accurate interiors, appropriate underbody details, working diaphragms, factory-installed electrical contacts for Walthers Interior Lighting Kits (available separately for DC or DCC), PROTO Max™ all-metal knuckle couplers, correct trucks with metal sideframes, metal RP-25 wheels, car number and name decals and modeler-applied wire grab irons. The cars are the correct length, so a minimum 24" radius is recommended for operation.
