Walthers is pleased to announce additional roadnames and roadnumbers for its popular 81' 4-Truck Depressed Center Flat Cars. Replicas of favorite cars for hauling huge loads for heavy industries, these models bring a unique prototype to HO layouts.

Fast Facts: When large and heavy loads such as electrical transformers need to be moved long distances, depressed-center flat cars are often the choice for shipments too tall to fit under bridges and through tunnels. The lower center deck of a depressed-center flat provides several inches of extra clearance, and since the cargo does not have to be lifted as high, loading and unloading is easier. Weight for large loads is also a factor, and the load limits for these cars (combined weight of the car and cargo) approach 200 tons, but it's spread out on eight axles on a four-truck car to avoid placing too much stress on track and bridges.

Features: The Walthers 81' 4-Truck Depressed Center Flat Car is a model of cars in service since the 1980s. This HO model features a die cast metal body for outstanding performance. Other features include applied plastic details, fine paint and printing, modeler-applied wire handrails, appropriate trucks with RP-25 metal wheels and PROTO-Max™ all-metal knuckle couplers. The cars are available individually and in limited-run 2-packs for a total of three roadnumbers per paint scheme.
