| More Roadnames for Popular Walthers ACF Heavyweight 70' Baggage-Express Cars Walthers continues to add roadnames to its lineup of Heavyweight ACF 70' Baggage-Express Cars. Four new color schemes will be available soon.
Fast Facts: Mail and express shipments were big moneymakers for railroads. ACF 70' Baggage-Express and Mail Storage cars are replicas of cars constructed by American Car & Foundry that ran on many railroads. The cars typically operated behind the motive power and ahead of the passenger-carrying cars. Several often ran on each trainÑespecially on all-stops secondary trains. The cars frequently operated on connecting roads' passenger trains, so it was not uncommon to find cars from eastern roads in western states or vice versa. Inside, baggage-express cars had accommodations for an express company employee including a desk and heating stove.
Features: Each car has all the features modelers expect from Walthers heavyweights including appropriate trucks with metal sideframes, underbody details, interiors, working diaphragms and built-in contacts for Walthers Interior Lighting Kits (sold separately). The cars come equipped with as-built or modern-style doors as appropriate for each roadname; undecorated and painted, unlettered models include both styles of doors. Mail storage and baggage-express cars have different roofs with appropriate vent/smokejack arrangements.
