Gold Line 50' Airslide® Covered Hopper
New Roadnames & Roadnumbers for Walthers Gold Line™ 50' Airslide® Covered Hopper

Walthers is pleased to announce the introduction of new paint schemes and roadnumbers on its Gold Line 50' Airslide® Covered Hopper. Based on cars introduced in the 1960s, these models are replicas of hoppers used for hauling granulated and powdered materials.

Fast Facts: The Airslide covered hopper was first developed in the 1950s by General American Transportation Co. to haul powdered and granulated materials. The prototypes are fitted with a special interior fabric lining and pressurization inlets that allow compressed air to be blown through the load for fast unloading. Shippers and railroads wanted larger versions of the popular car, leading to the introduction of the 50' Airslide covered hopper in the early 1960s. The cars have been long lived and hundreds are still in service in 2009.

Features: The HO Scale Gold Line 50' Airslide Covered Hopper comes fully assembled and authentically decorated. Other features include appropriate trucks with RP-25 metal wheelsets and PROTO Max™ all-metal knuckle couplers. The cars are available individually and in limited-run 2-packs for a total of three roadnumbers per paint scheme.
