Walthers announces the release of the non-messenger variation of its Pennsylvania Railroad B60b Baggage Car. This version features revised rooftop detailing and appropriate decoration.

Fast Facts: Always known for its unique rolling stock, the Pennsylvania Railroad designed the B60b Baggage Car to meet growing mail and express business. From 1925 to the late 1960s, the B60b could be found on the head-end of Pennsy passenger trains across the system. While the car was a distinctly Pennsy design, they were part of the Railway Express Agency pool and were frequent visitors on railroads from coast to coast, moving bulk mail and express shipments. Non-messenger versions of the cars featured a smooth roofline without vents. Cars equipped as messenger cars, with facilities for a rider to accompany a shipment in transit, were identified by a 6" gold star above the car number and rooftop vents. Both versions were long-lived and some worked for PRR successor Penn Central; others were shuffled off to Pennsy-controlled roads such as the Norfolk & Western and the Long Island.

Features: These all-new models are a quick and easy way to add variety and color to 1920s- through 1960s-era passenger trains. Because of its 60' length, the B60b is ideal for any size layout. Models include the correct balloon-style rounded roof, detailed body, correct trucks, and come with or without rooftop vents as per the prototype. The cars come equipped with Proto MAX™ all-metal magnetic knuckle couplers and RP-25 metal wheelsets. The cars are factory-assembled, but for modelers wishing to add more detail, a full set of formed wire grab irons is provided. These are easily mounted using drill starter points molded on the body. Car number decals are included for modelers who wish to expand their fleet.
