Walthers announces the arrival of its all-new N Scale Pullman-Standard 64-Seat Coach. This detailed, ready-to-run model is an ideal addition to any post-1940s passenger train.
Fast Facts: With big plans for its post-war streamliner fleet, the New York Central placed an order for 153 coaches with Pullman-Standard in May 1944. Deliveries of the cars (plan #7484) began in February and continued through October of 1946. At the time, this was the largest equipment order delivered within a single year. The cars had fluted sides that complemented those on Budd-built cars. These state-of-the-art coaches featured air conditioning, deep reclining seats, individual lighting, large windows and more, offering passengers comfort for short and medium-distance runs. Similar smooth-side cars operated on other railroads. These cars led long lives and were later converted for commuter service. Others were acquired by Amtrak in 1971 and continued in service for several years.
Features: The cars feature roadname-appropriate body styles with corrugated or smooth sides, with or without skirting. Flush-fitting windows, full interiors, built-in electrical contacts for easy installation of Walthers interior lighting kit #933-1099 (sold separately), working diaphragms, GSC 41-N trucks with metal wheelsets, Accumate® knuckle couplers and car number and name decals round out each car. The cars come in a convenient clear plastic box for easy storage or display.
