New Walthers Pullman-Standard 72' Baggage Car Carries Introduces Fluted-Side Body and More Roadnames
Walthers announces the arrival of an additional body style and more roadnames for its Pullman-Standard 72' Baggage Car. This new model is ideal for adding variety to 1940 and later passenger consists.
Fast Facts: When lightweight cars came to the Pullman fleet in the early 1940s, their smooth sides lent themselves to classy, colorful paint schemes. While decorated to match specific trains, because of the nature of the express package and mail business, the cars often operated on connecting railroads, especially during periods of high mail and express volumes, making them frequent visitors on trains throughout the continent. Fluted-side cars were also offered so the cars would blend in with streamlined cars from competing builders Budd and ACF.
Features: Walthers Pullman-Standard 72' Baggage Cars are based on prototypes delivered with smooth sides and no skirting. They ride on GSC 41-HR trucks with die cast sideframes and blackened-metal wheelsets. Other features include flush-fitting windows, working diaphragms, PROTO Max™ all-metal knuckle couplers, modeler-applied wire grab irons and car number and name decals. The cars have built-in provisions for Walthers Passenger Car Interior Lighting Kits DC Version 933-1049, $12.98, and DCC Version 933-1084, $7.98 (both sold
separately).
