Pullman-Standard 52-Seat Coaches

New Pullman-Standard 52-Seat Coaches Rolling In

Walthers announces four new schemes for HO Scale Pullman-Standard 52-Seat Coaches. Available for the first time with factory-installed grab irons, these models are superbly detailed and ready-to-run.

Fast Facts: The first Pullman-Standard 52-Seat coaches traversed the Chesapeake & Ohio in 1949 introducing passengers to a stylish and comfortable mode of travel. Decorative panels and skirts of fluted stainless steel applied below the windows created an elegant, streamlined look while large windows and reclining seats let passengers relax and watch the countryside roll past.

The Pullman-Standard 52-Seat coach served many roads in the years to come. Over time, the stainless steel skirts were removed to simplify maintenance. Many cars had the side panels removed when it was discovered that trapped water and cleaning solution caused corrosion. As passenger service was reduced, many were sold to the CNW, Seaboard Airline, Delaware & Hudson and Penn Central. Many were still in good condition in 1971 and went to work for Amtrak.

Features: Now with factory-installed grab irons, Walthers all-new models feature as many as four styles including smooth or fluted sides as appropriate for each roadname. Authentic details include flush-fitting windows, full interiors, working diaphragms, Proto MAX™ metal knuckle couplers and car number and name decals. The cars also have built-in provisions for the Walthers Passenger Car Interior Lighting Kit 933-1049, $10.98 (sold separately).
