February 10, 2011, Milwaukee, Wis. - Walthers is pleased to announce it has entered into a new partnership with SoundTraxx for the use of Tsunami decoders in PROTO 2000® models with sound and DCC. The first engines with Tsunami decoders will include the recently announced Pennsylvania E8A and E7B units for the Broadway Limited, and an updated run of SD45s, all in HO Scale.
Decoders for these (and future releases) will be custom-made to fit Walthers circuit boards, and include the full range of Tsunami operating, lighting and sound features. Using the extensive SoundTraxx library of recordings made live and on location, sounds will match prime movers, bells, air horns and other road-specific equipment.
“From the beginning the PROTO series has constantly redefined what makes a realistic model,” said Michael Stephens, Vice President of Proprietary Products. “With the addition of these new Tsunami decoders, Walthers is taking that tradition a step further, with more operating features and sound possibilities.”
Walthers will continue to provide warranty repairs and support for earlier PROTO models equipped with QSI® sound and DCC systems.
