Hart Ballast Cars Add Authenticity to Steam- and Diesel-era Work
Trains Built by American Car & Foundry (ACF) from
1940-1953, the prototypes for these 70-Ton Hart Ballast Cars were formally
known as Hart Selective Service Ballast Cars. Each car came factory
equipped with specially designed longitudinal doors that allowed ballast to
be discharged between the rails, to the center and sides of the rails, or
to the side of the rails only. The cars soon found their way into work
train service across the continent and a few are still in use today. These
detailed models feature a heavy diecast chassis, 70-ton friction-bearing
trucks, interior detailing including crossbracing, Accumate
knuckle couplers and accurate painting and printing. Available in
the following roadnames: CB&Q
CNW Colorado & Wyoming MP SP&S WC
