The "Piker" offers guests the ultimate in Pullman service and comfort. As a two-section sleeper-solarium-diner, its actually a complete train in just one tiny car! Big windows and traditional styling give it a charm all its own.
Its partner is "Oscar," a nice, short name for a nice, short Observation Car. It features a dramatically different body than the Piker, with paired windows and traditional "brass" railed observation platform at the back.
Measuring just 21 scale feet long each, tight curves pose no problems to Oscar or Piker! Riding on a single six-wheel truck with plenty of pivot room, they can handle radii that would make a streetcar cry!
You may recall these cars from the glory days of Walthers craft train passenger car kit line. But our new cars are completely redesigned for today's busy model railroad president.Working from original models, we carefully captured all the charm of those grand old kits in highly detailed plastic parts. All the classic features are here, starting with the heavyweight steel bodies that fit any era from the 1920s to the present. One-piece plastic interiors, separate wire grab irons and more are now standard equipment. Plus, both cars come factory painted and lettered in a variety of roadnames. We didn't forget do-it-yourselfers as undecorated models are available too.
And best of all - Piker and Oscar now come fully assembled, ready for same-day service on your railroad!
Just couple up Piker and Oscar behind your favorite motive power, hang the markers, put your feet up and tour your line in real style. A better car was never built for "short" lines! Or put em to work in mixed train service. Run them as a contractor's, civil engineer's or foreman's office with the work trains. In an emergency, they can double as a caboose or a telegraph office on wheels. Run some money-making railfan excursions across the line. Or invite state and local politicians to celebrate April 15th with a "Busted Budget Limited."
Wherever they go, how ever you run them, no matter what other cars you run them with, they'll draw attention and are guaranteed to put more fun in any passenger car fleet!
And, you can build a train of any length. Choose from matched roadname sets which include both a Piker and an Oscar, or individual cars in the same schemes.
