Once found in all types of construction, open-pit mining and quarrying operations, these machines were used to load narrow gauge dump cars with loose materials of all kinds. A single electric motor drove the endless bucket chain, but was also used move the machine as needed. To spread its weight and provide better balance, temporary standard gauge tracks were installed. Based on a prototype at the Ziegeleimuseum Erbs near Leipzig, the model is typical of similar machines found all around the world. The nonpowered kit is highly detailed and includes a positionable (to 45 degrees) boom with buckets, operator's cab, roller head with cable brakes and a wooden box to hold counterweights. The model is designed to ride on standard HO gauge tracks (not included) and is complete with metal wheels and axles. The finished model is perfect for use with Busch Feldbahn, or Walthers SceneMaster Light Industrial Rail equipment, sold separately.
