Based on towers used in Colorado, similar water tanks were used throughout the American west. The roof is based on those used in the Rocky Mountain area, where a steeper pitch was needed to hold heavy snow. Two different roof peaks are included; a finial as used from 1850-1890, and a simpler version, typical of new roofs applied during the 20th century. With careful assembly, the water spout can be moved up and down and the frost box door opened and closed. The kit also includes a baggage cart, often used at these facilities by repair crews to move tools and supplies.
