One of Union Pacific's most versatile steam engines, 4-6-6-4 "Challengers" were equally at home in freight or passenger service and remained in regular operation into the 1950s. This superb Trix replica captures the look and feel of the prototypes as they appeared in this era, and features all-metal construction and traction tires for superb pulling power, close-coupling between engine and tender, and a flywheel-equipped drive for smooth performance. Loaded with features including DCC and sound, up to 32 different functions are available depending on your operating system. Warm-white LEDs power the constant and directional headlights, and the model also features selectable class lights, numberboards and cab lighting that can be turned on or off separately. A powerful speaker is mounted in the tender, and the model includes a full range of sounds from coal and water refilling, to opening and closing cab windows and vents! Like the prototype, the model is equipped with two stacks, and both can be fitted with smoke generators (441-7226), sold separately if desired. There's even a handsome wooden presentation box, perfect for transport or display.
PLEASE NOTE: Like the prototype, this large (16-3/4", 42.5cm long over couplers) model works best on larger curves, but can handle a minimum radius of 14-13/16" (360mm), however trackside details must be placed well away from the tracks to allow for overhang.
