GE first delivered the AC4400CW in 1994 in response to the highly successful SD70MAC from EMD. UP rosters the largest fleet of AC4400CW units, regularly employing the locomotive in coal and intermodal service. These models are sound-friendly allowing for easy optional installation of a 1-1/10" 28mm sound speaker (speaker and sound board by another manufacturer). Cab type, inverter cabinet, numberboards and fuel tank are correct for roadname. These models also feature lighted ditch lights and numberboards. They are equipped with Kato knuckle couplers, directional LED headlight and 8-pin DCC socket.
