Sanding Tower -- Assembled - Southern Pacific (gray)

This AtlasO O Scale Sanding Tower is a great addition for any O Scale or O-27 Gauge model railroad featuring steam or diesel motive power pulling long strings of cars. While the accessory doesn't operate, real-life locomotives needed added tractive effort to tackle grades or slippery track brought on by weather conditions. Steam and diesel locomotives spray sand down onto the rails directly in front of the drive wheels. The gritty texture provides increased traction. Sanding towers were conveniently located at servicing facilities in areas where traction problems were common and are just as important as the coal and water towers found throughout the railroads' lines during the steam era. This fully assembled single-track Sanding Tower comes fully painted and is available with or without railroad logos. The Sanding Tower is part of the line of AtlasO structures.
