Diesel EMD NW2 Switcher Phase V - Powered - No Sound
Chicago, Burlington & Quincy #9248
Walthers Part # 187-172
HO scale, $89.99, sold out at Walthers
Introduced in February of 1939, the NW2 offered railroads a powerful and
economical switch engine. With a 1000 horsepower prime mover, it could
handle almost any yard work, while the unique cab and body design offered
excellent visibility in all directions. Although production was suspended
during World War II, new and improved post-war versions were built through
1950, that paved the way for the successful SW series which followed.
These models are based on late production NW2s with the smaller radiator
and rounded cab windows that set them apart from SW7s. A powerful
five-pole can motor, directional headlights, full cab interior, authentic
paint and more are all included. Engines will handle 18" radius curves.
