Following on the success of its earlier E series units, EMD introduced the more powerful E8 in 1949. This unit sported the shorter "bulldog" nose found on the F series, but its longer body housed a pair of 567B prime movers, delivering 2250 horsepower. Before production ended in 1953, 421 A and 39 B units were built, making the E8 the most successful of the E series locos. Models feature prototypically accurate detail and dynamic brake sounds.
