PRR constructed the 400 class H34A covered hoppers at Altoona during June 1955, using components fabricated by Pullman-Standard. The roof hatches have been moved outward to- ward the car ends and have been stenciled with the less stylized variation of PRR's |Calendar} font. The H34-types were the first PRR covered hopper cars to be turned out new in gray paint with black stenciling.
