Union Pacific(R) "City" Streamliners #937 & 946B
Walthers Part # 920-41353, p. 106 Walthers 2010 HO Scale Reference
HO scale, $499.98, not currently in stock at Walthers, Expected: 28-Dec-2010 (Limited Run)
To pull the growing "City" fleet, UP ordered a variety of new diesels
between 1946 and 1950 when the first EMD E8s arrived. Typically run in
A-B-B lash-ups, these engines, along with nearly identical E9s, were the
signature power on UP's flagship trains through 1971.
Based on units assigned to various City trains, Walthers E8s feature
authentic UP-specific details, including the road's distinctive rooftop
snowshields. The models come with multiple unit numbers, and are
factory-finished in authentic paint, lettering and striping to match the
cars. Other features include:
* Train Number Decals
On most roads, the engine's numberboard identified that locomotive. On the
UP however, the lead engine of regularly scheduled trains such as the
"City" Streamliners, displayed the train number for positive
identification.
Modeling this extra level of detail is easy - PROTO 2000(R) E8A units
feature blank numberboards, and a special set of decals with authentic
train numbers to model east- or westbound trains!
