For thousands of years, humans have shaped stone into a variety of building materials. For many decades, much of it has come from operations like this. The stone is quarried from nearby deposits then hauled to cutting operations for sizing. Inside, huge powered saws, water-cooled to reduce dust and friction, cut blocks to the required size. Large blocks may serve as a base for monuments and small blocks as tombstones. Slabs are used as floors or exterior treatments. The surface is then polished and the finished piece ready to ship. And given the size and weight, this is definitely a job for the railroads! Flat cars or gondolas are used to ease loading and unloading of the valuable and heavy cargo.
 
A neat addition to the industries along any railroad, this kit includes a detailed main building, with lots of big windows that invite adding a customized interior of your own design. To handle those heavy loads coming in from the quarry, the kit comes with an overhead crane, complete with craneway supports, bridge and operator's cab. A positionable derrick and machine house are also included to hoist really big blocks on or off waiting rail cars.
