Built in large numbers by Trinity Industries between 1984 and 1998, these 17,600-Gallon Corn Syrup Tank Cars are a familiar site across North America. Over 7,000 were constructed and most are still in service, hauling corn syrup, liquid sugar and molasses.
 
The cars feature a "bent-barrel" tank design to speed unloading, and are equipped with insulation and exterior coil pipes to heat the cargo so it flows easily. Many customers requested specific equipment so most of the variations are found in the manway and top platforms.
 
This initial release features three of the most common manway/top platform arrangements as specified by ADM, Cargill, and Corn Products (among others). Other features include separately applied train line hoses, coupler cut levers, brake rigging, bottom outlet valve and valve handle, plu metal grab irons, 100-ton roller bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps, accurate painting and printing, a highly detailed body with prototypical jacket seams, plus see-through walkway and platforms.
