In the late 1940s the Pioneer Zephyr was involved in several grade crossing incidents. That promoted the CB&Q to remodel the nose of the Pioneer Zephyr and add Twin Headlights, one of which was a working Mars light so the train could be seen from a greater distance down the track.
 
This faithful reproduction of the Later Years version of the Zephyr includes a working Mars light that works in either DC or DCC mode. The fully assembled 3-car set is ready to run and features historic paint and lettering, metal die cast weighting and metal RP-25 wheelsets plus interiors in the #2 and #3 cars. All cars are lighted. The loco comes with a factory installed, standard 8-pin DCC-ready board plus two extra pins for speaker mounting (speaker not included) so it will be easy to install the DCC decoder of your choice or to install the Con-Cor add-on decoder #223-6002, sold separately.
