Modeled after the ACF 40' wooden, end bunker, ice-cooled reefer cars built for the NWX (Northwestern Refrigerator Line Company) in 1928, this reefer is similar to thousands of cars built in the 20s and 30s as rolling "Billboards." In july of 1934, the practice of painting billboards was outlawed as an illegal rebate to the leasee. After that, the leasee name could be no taller than 12". Models are built of rugged ABS plastic simulating wood construction and include side and end ladders, USRA style fish belly center sill, KC brake system with a vertical brake shaft, diecast metal sprung trucks and opening roof hatches. Code 110, NMRA RP-25 metal wheelsets are also included.
