Product Information
Within a few years after World War I was over and United States Railroad Administration control ended, railroads began replacing older equipment and looking for designs that would meet their needs. A number of railroads adopted the wartime USRA design (none of which were constructed during the war) and, with a few structural changes, ordered similar cars for their fleets. Other roads shortened, lengthened, narrowed or widened the cars design to suit their needs. Because of these changes, researching what roads had this exact car would be nearly impossible. The cars built from these designs lasted into the 1960s and possibly later in specialized service.
These ready-to-run models depict the basic USRA design with modifications to the frame increasing the original loaded weight. Cars are sold in pairs with each package containing two unique roadnumbers. 3-Packs contain six ready-to-run cars with six different road numbers. All flat cars are weighted and come with Red Caboose Bettendorf friction-bearing trucks.
