Based on a 92' 9 (28.2m) diesel-powered railroad tugboat built around 1953, tugs like this were indispensable to the rail-marine industry. Designed especially to tow carfloats, the tall wheelhouse allowed the captain an unobstructed view above boxcars on deck. Tugs like this could be found at many harbors, and also worked station floats, barges and lighters.
The kit features highly detailed, cast resin structural parts including a one-piece hull, superstructure and wheelhouse. Cast pewter mast, bitts, anchor, fire monitor, 20 tire bumpers and searchlight are also included. For the final touch, laser-cut plastic railings and window glazing, as well as rope and glass bead running lights are also provided.
