Designed for heavy-haul freight service, the C-628 offered an impressive 2,750 horsepower along with the other features of ALCOs Century Series. A total of 185 units were built for railroads in the US, Mexico and Australia from 1963 to 1968.
 
All models are equipped with golden-white LED directional lighting, painted handrails, blackened wheels, ScaleSpeed motor, and factory-installed AccuMate knuckle couplers. Additional details include low nose headlight, horizontal or vertical cab headlight and pilots with or without footboards to match specific prototype practices.
