Built for the UP and CNW, as well as the Wabash, American Car & Foundry delivered 23 of these 12-4 sleepers during 1949-50 to Pullman Plan #9004. Original names and numbers were:
CNW: "Western Frontier" & "Western Peak" Wabash: "Western Sunset", "Western Lake", "Western View"& "Western Scene" UP: "Western Adventure" through "Western Wonderland" (11 cars) Wabash: "Blue Boy" through "Blue Skies" (6 cars) In 1965 UP commissioned Pullman-Standard to rebuild all of its cars plus one Wabash car to 11-bedroom "Sun" sleeping cars, Pullman Plan #6009.
These photo-etched sides include the original short skirts as shown in the illustrations. The parts are sized to match Walthers UP Streamliners "Placid" series (932-9500 or 932-9501) sleeping car bodies and may also be used with Basic Body Kit #173-101, all sold separately.
