Lionel continues its tribute to the rich heritage of modern railroads with models honoring the Norfolk Southern. Currently operating in 22 states, Norfolk Southern was originally created from a 1982 merger of the Norfolk & Western and Southern Railway. In 1998, NS acquired a large portion of Conrail.
 
The Heritage line is beautifully and uniquely decorated to pay special tribute to the Norfolk Southern and the fallen flag railroads it was built from, including Southern, Virginian, Norfolk & Western and Conrail.
