From 1968 onwards, the Deutsche Bahn operated a V 320 001 that it had leased from the Henschel Company at the Kempten Depot under the works number 232 001. It was used there to haul the extremely heavy express trains between Munich and Lindau on the difficult Allgau railway. Locomotive features a metal chassis, diecast body directional headlights, five-pole skew-wound motor and NEM couplers.
