The SD35 was the six-axle version of EMD's popular GP-35. Constructed between 1964 and 1966, 360 units were built. A passenger version, the SD-35, was built for four railroads, and is readily identified by the squared-off hood end that houses a steam generator. Features include directional lighting, painted safety rails, blackened metal wheels, dual-flywheel equipped five-pole skewed armature motor with a low-friction mechanism, and factory-installed AccuMate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers.
