Introduced in 1964, the SD35 offered railroads with a high horsepower, 6-axle unit that quickly found a niche in fast freight service. Some 343 were built before production ended in 1966, and included both high and low hood versions, as well as a steam generator equipped model (the SDP35) intended for both freight and passenger service. This latest Atlas Master series engine will come equipped with the HO Dual-Mode Decoder pre-installed. Engines will be available in both low and high nose versions as well as the dual service SDP35. Features of the all-new models include: a realistic diecast underframe, five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds, directional lighting, AccuMate(R) knuckle couplers, detailed cab interior with crew and separately-installed scale windshield wipers, metal grab irons and fine scale handrails. The models will also come with a snowplow, marker lights with separate lenses, scale fans and grille detail and a flat or raised dust bin inertial filter to match prototype preference.
