From the fall of 1955 on, the Union Pacific reached Chicago via connections with the Milwaukee Road. Under terms of the agreement, all equipment had to be painted to match, and Milwaukee E9 diesels began sporting the handsome yellow and gray color scheme, and could be found at the head of the City of Los Angeles and other trains for years to come.
