This Kato EMD F40PH diesel is based on locomotives used for hauling passenger trains across the continent from the 1970s into the 21st Century. Features of this as-delivered version include the original nose profile (no cutouts for ditch lights), a five-pole motor with dual flywheels, all-wheel electrical pickup, heavy die cast metal chassis, a lighting control board that can be swapped for a DCC decoder (available separately), fine decoration, directional LED headlights and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers.
