The EMD GP38-2 diesel is a workhorse locomotive for every 1970s and later railroad. Features include realistic paint schemes, all-wheel drive, working headlights and E-Z Mate(R) Mark II knuckle couplers. They perform best on 18" or greater radius curves making them good for upgrading train sets. This unit is also DCC ready and includes both six and eight-pin sockets for easy DCC decoder conversion.
RailAmerica owns many shortlines. This unit has sublettering for Toledo, Peoria & Western in Illinois and Indiana, but the real loco may be seen on any of the railroad's 40+ railroads.
