The SD70ACe is Electro-Motive Division's hope for the future designed to meet the Environmental Protection Agency's Tier-2 emissions requirements that took effect on January 1, 2005. It offers, in EMD's words, "outstanding improvements in maintainability." After a year of testing, the first SD70ACe engines (e stands for enhanced) were delivered to CSX Transportation in 2004.
 
Model features include intricately detailed ABS body, metal chassis, metal handrails and decorative horn, directionally controlled headlights, metal wheels, axles and gears plus 2 precision flywheel equipped motors. Comes equipped with operating smoke unit and Proto-Sound 3.0 with DCC system featuring freight yard Proto-Effects. Operates on O-42 curves
