Product Information
Build Your Head-End Fleet with Baggage-Express Cars
Mail and express shipments were big moneymakers for railroads. ACF 70' Baggage-Express and Mail Storage cars bring a common car to the Walthers heavyweight line. Each car has all the features you expect from Walthers heavyweights including interiors and built-in contacts for Walthers Interior Lighting Kits (sold separately). The cars come equipped with as-built or modern-style doors as appropriate for each roadname; undecorated and painted, unlettered models include both styles of doors. Mail storage and baggage-express cars have different roofs with appropriate vent/smokejack arrangements. Several head-end cars like these often operated on each train - especially on all-stops secondary trains. On your layout, they'll add a new dimension of operations because baggage cars were switched at major terminals.
PLEASE NOTE: As these cars are the correct prototype length and feature full underbody detail to match the prototypes, a minimum 24" radius is recommended for operation.
