Advertised by Fairbanks-Morse as "the most useful locomotive ever built", the H24-66 Train Master was first introduced in 1953. Designed as a versatile locomotive with various equipment options available, it was found in both passenger and freight service across the US. It was the most powerful single-engine locomotive in production at the time, generating a total of 2,400 hp.
This Atlas Master(TM) Gold Series ready-to-run model features separately applied detail parts, accurate painting and printing, with an e-DMD (electronic Dual-Mode(R) decoder) and sound right out of the box. Details include separate door handles, truck sideframes with real metal springs, diecast underframe, a five-pole skewed armature motor with dual-flywheels, directional lighting, etched-metal grilles, painted crew figures, AccuMate(R) knuckle couplers and railroad-specific detailing. The e-DMD decoder allows operation and basic sound functions when operated on a DC-powered layout and full sound functionality when operated with a DCC system.
QSI(R) Quantum Sound(R) system features include dual speakers, authentic diesel sounds, squealing brakes, Doppler effects, air let-off in neutral, soupler impact sounds (when operated using a DCC system) and a helper mode that mutes the whistle and bell when operated in a consist with other units.
