For all gauges, Maxx Traxx is an easy-to-use interactive sound system that connects to any power pack. Sounds recorded from prototype trains are multi-channeled, continuous, and responsive for realistic effects that capture the authentic sounds of railroading. Atmospheric Sound Technology creates a moving train effect: the sounds seem to come from the train, even though the speaker is placed in the layout. Random Sequence Sound technology is used to keep effects fresh and exciting, and Sound of Power technology changes engine labor in response to the throttle. Steam chuff or electric traction motor sounds are synchronized with the speed of the engine; Diesel Motor is synchronized to the amount of power on the track. Special neutral Sounds come on when the engine is stopped. Three buttons control sound effects. These same buttons can be used to configure Maxx Traxx during power-up for selecting pumps, diesel turbo, articulated steam chuffing, changing volume, etc. Horn or whistle sounds respond to the length of time the horn button is pressed. Pressing the brake button will give you squealing brake sounds for any desired duration. Bell is turned on by pressing the bell button and stays on until the bell button is pressed again. Many more effects like Emergency Cord, Station Stop with train arrival scenario, Doppler Horn, Grade Crossing with speed-dependent clickety-clack, Coupler Crash, and Uncoupler sounds are activated by pressing the buttons for over three second or in certain combinations. In neutral, special horn signal codes produce different maintenance and fueling scenarios complete with crew talk, as well as the Slack Action coupler effects when the train moves out. The speaker is placed in the layout, preferably in a building. Maxx Traxx is connected to both the track and the accessory output on the power pack. Installation takes only minutes. Each Maxx Traxx comes complete with an installed sound set, speaker, speaker resonator, cabling, layout installation instructions and manual. Sounds included on all systems: doppler shifted horn or whistle, passenger station stop scenario, emergency cord, grade crossing scenario, clickity-clack wheel sounds, uncoupler with lift bar pick-up and air release, coupler "Slack Action," coupler crash effect, squealing brakes and wheel flanges, air compressor and air release in neutral, engine shutdown scenario in neutral with whistle signal code, and water-filling scenario in neutral with hor or whistle signal code.
Additional sounds: Lubrication scenario in neutral with whistle signal code, steam exhaust with four-chuff cadence, authentic steam whistle, hand-pulled bell, water injector, pop-off and blow down in neutral, shoveling coal in neutral with pneumatic firebox door, steam cock in forward after neutral, water scoop in neutral with whistle signal code, coal-loading scenario in neutral with whistle signal code and low-level steam blower.
