Introduced to the world in 1965, the T-62 was developed in the 1950s as a successor to the T-54. Although similar in appearance to the T-54, the T-62 had a wider and longer hull and a new turret to accommodate the 115mm cannon. Entering Soviet service in 1963 they were also seen in the armies of Czechoslovakia and North Korea, and a few still serve in other countries.
