With their assembly line manufacturing, Pullman-Standard was able to modify its PS2 hopper to meet the needs of many customers. In the 1960s a new version was introduced for the grain industry. The new car was fitted with a trough-style roof hatch for faster loading and retained the proven center discharge for fast unloading. Immensely popular, the cars were purchased by dozens of railroads and private firms, and many are still going strong.
