This Broadway Limited HO Scale RDG Class T1 4-8-4 Paragon3 steam locomotive is based on the "Northerns" rebuilt in the Reading's hometown shop using donor I-10a 2-8-0 steam locomotives. In the era, the War Production Board regulations prevented the design of new locomotives, but did allow modernizations and upgrades. Of the 30 T1s constructed four are preserved with a some of those being returned to operation as of 2019. In the late 1950s and 1960s the Reading operated its series of Reading Rambles with four T1s for power (and one for parts) and in the 1970s Chessie System and Delaware and Hudson used the engines for their excursion programs. The 2101 handled the American freedom train. The HO Scale model has full Paragon3 sound and DCC for realistic sound and motor control and is designed to work with all Broadway Limited Rolling Thunder(TM) advanced sound systems. Other features include a smooth-running flywheel-equipped drive, synchronized puffing smoke, installed engineer and fireman figures, directional lighting, traction tires for great pulling power and magnetic knuckle couplers. This HO Scale RDG Class T1 4-8-4 can be operated on all DCC systems as well as on standard DC railroads (with limited sound functionality). This model has wheels profiled to operate on Code 83 and larger rail and curves of 18" radius or larger.
