Although the Deutsche Reichsbahns colour regulations did not permit it at the time, there were strong rumours that a series 06 locomotive had been painted green. These rumours were confirmed when the green BR 06 models arrived on the market before the Second World War.
 
Locomotives feature a heavy metal frame, diecast body, five-pole skew-wound motor, directional head/tail lights and NEM couplers.
