New and upgraded for 2003, these models feature all-new motor block; can motor drive with built-in cooling fan; drive axles that are all gear driven; three patent-pending ball bearing equipped gearboxes; two flywheels; blackened cast-metal drive wheels and main drive rods; new modular PC board with plug-and-play capabilities; plug-in for battery operation; new patented super smoke unit with burnout protection; factory-installed speaker for optional after-market sound unit (sold separately); operating marker/classification lights and knuckle coupler (on tender rear); moveable cab side windows; blackened solid brass grab railings; boiler and cab detail; and separate details including bell, whistle, headlight, and domes. Models are DCC and radio control ready, and include either Pacific or Vanderbilt tender depending on prototype.
