This Broadway Limited HO Scale Streamlined 4-6-2 "Yellowjacket" Pacific is based on chicago & North Western's last streamlined steam engines. As the railroad received streamlined passenger trains, it sought streamlined steam locos to haul them and the result was the Class ES Pacific steam locomotive. Built in 1930 by Alco, the ES locomotives were originally intended for the "400" fleet. However, before the engines were delivered, C&NW management decided to shift focus away from streamlined steam power and instead placed orders for new diesel locomotives from the General Motors Electro-Motive Division. As a result, the ES locomotives were reassigned to other passenger services until they were retired and scrapped in 1953. Crews affectionately nicknamed them "Yellow Jackets" because of their distinctive yellow and green paint schemes. This Stealth Series no-sound/DCC-ready model operates on DC out of the box, or you can easily install their DCC decoder of choice. Stealth Series models are DCC-ready with a standard MTC21 pin on the DC motherboard. Out of the box, front and rear lights are directional, and other lights are always ON with track power. Additionally, some lighting functions may be missing depending on your choice of aftermarket decoder. It also features a built-in speaker so you won't have to add one later. Other features include a heavy die cast chassis and select roadname-specific details. Its wheels are profiled to operate on Code 70 and larger rail and curves of 18" radius, but larger curves are recommended.
